GENEALOGY.

As the web site is beginning to appear on more search engines, we've started receiving emails from people in the likes of Australia and North America trying to trace ancestors who emigrated from Horsley as far back as the 1500's. Hopefully the information on this page will help people find the information they're after and will also make interesting reading for those that chose to stay behind with the sheep (or moved in a little later).

Seeking relatives of John Knight (?-1550)
My name is Christine Knight Binns and my great aunt and uncle have traced our family line all the way back to Horsley 1550. John Knight (died 1550, they have his will still on file) was a wool comber, his great great grandson, Thomas was single when he traveled on the Voyage of Bristol to New England in 1682. I am curious to know if any of our relatives would still be in Horsley, or the surrounding areas - John Knight had several children as did his son and grandson, etc. I am working to try and travel to Horsley, next Spring during our school spring break (I am a teacher) and I was anticipating spending some time in the village and if possible would like to connect with anyone within our family tree. I understand that the name is very common in England (as is my married name), but being as specific as the geneology research has been, I'm hopeful I could find a connection still in the village or area.

I appreciate any guidance you could provide in the way of ancestry research you may have on records there, or how I might access information further? I completely understand if you are unable to provide any information, this is a very random request/or concern, but I am very appreciative of your time and consideration.
